REVIEW
The contented diners vying for tempura-battered Moreton Bay bugs and juicy chicken thighs with yuzu honey and slivers of radish may have stumbled up from the casino below. But, truth be told, most are here expressly to dine at Kiyomi. The buzzy venture, sibling to Sydney’s Sokyo, is headed by Nobu alumnus Chase Kojima. With the advent of set menus, Kiyomi offers some of the finest-value Japanese fusion in Queensland. A $75 seven-course share option includes signature desserts such as Goma Street, a series of chocolate discs sandwiching folds of caramelised white chocolate mousse and sesame praline. Ocean trout sashimi, its fattiness offset by baby capers, pickled wasabi and smoked yuzu soy dressing, is more evidence of gun kitchen skills and a flair for balancing flavour. Add in animated service, as well as an improved drinks offer with an alluring sake selection, and this lobby diner is the best bet in the house.
