REVIEW
Much of the Ms G’s allure can be summed up in the cheeseburger spring rolls: they make a burger filling and stick it in a spring roll. It’s a fairly silly idea but, rather than merely being tossed off as click-bait, is redeemed by the fact that these guys care about what they cook, and happen to make a very good cheeseburger. The concept of dude food, and the showily dude-ish décor might not have aged as gracefully as the hip-hop that thumps from the speakers, but the specifics of what Ms G’s puts on the plate remain, if a little heavy, tasty nonetheless. The flavours of Asia carry the day: Sichuan sesame sauce and peanuts flipping the script on burrata, Malaysian-style chicken giving a mozzarella jaffle a curry-puff twist, and perfumed lychee tapioca bouncing off strawberry with yoghurt sorbet at dessert. Service is friendly but more tuned to pace than personality, the booze offer is better than it needs to be, and the kids keep flocking in.
