REVIEW
The Euro is a revered and versatile stalwart of the Brisbane scene. An imaginative yet unintimidating menu and relatively sober fittings are boosted by friendly, efficient service. Buckwheat risotto is typical of the clever bistro-with-a-twist dishes on offer, presented with edamame and Kalamata olives in a watercress sauce. Precisely cooked Paroo kangaroo striploin arrives with saltbush and sweet, earthy roasted onion. Seafood also shines, grilled baby octopus with nutty freekeh grains, creamy baba ghanoush and cucumber ribbons, or scallop ceviche with tart pickled onions, apple and a drizzle of umami-boosting kombu oil. There’s an expansive wine list of local and international names and staff are adept at matchings. After dessert? Try yuzu curd with an imaginative liquorice mousse, meringue and cardamom snow, or perhaps elderflower foam and poached nectarines, served with a jolt of superb rooibos ice-cream.
