2026 Travel Trends research conducted by Booking,com actually revealed that 37 per cent of Aussie travellers plan their entire trips around discounts, showing an increase need to spend cautiously while still enjoying the world around them.

Last year we saw some incredible savings on flights, tours and cruises. Virgin Australia offered return flights from Melbourne to Nadi, Fiji, from $645 Economy Lite, with up to 25 per cent off other domestic and international destinations. This year is looking no different, with many airlines dropping sales as early as November 1.

The key? For the best Black Friday flight sales, you need to book before someone else swoops in on the best offers – and before Travel Tuesday ends on December 1. But with so many places to go, and so many experiences to explore, it’s hard to know what’s worth adding to cart for. Cyber Weekend, including Black Friday to Travel Tuesday, is the best time of year to save hundreds off flights and travel, with notable airlines often participating. “To make the most of Black Friday flight deals, travellers should start planning days or even weeks in advance so you get an idea of prices,” says Skyscanner Australia Travel Expert Jarrod Kris. We recommend to plan ahead and act fast, as the most popular routes and destinations tend to sell out quickly and prices can change at a moments notice. Most flight sales will be for flights that are due to depart the following year, however it’s important to be flexible with your departure date in order to yield major savings.

“Last-minute deals can pop up across the weekend, but it’s unpredictable,” adds Jarrod. “Some airlines may release flash sales or fill unsold seats with discounts. Setting price alerts can also help you be notified of price changes on the flights you are after. These deals are usually limited in quantity, so it’s all about checking frequently.” Always compare prices between multiple providers to ensure you’re truly getting the best bargain, and keep and eye on any hidden fees prior to booking.

The truth is that deals are available as long as you stay flexible – consider alternative travel dates, mixing and matching airlines, or even flying from different airports, could save you lots.”
