Almost five decades after its founding, Petaluma is still doing what it does best: setting the benchmark for regional specificity in Australian wines.
The newly released 2025 Vintage Collection features a quartet of small-batch wines, crafted to honour the winery’s legacy of regional storytelling and meticulous site selection.
So just what can you expect from this lineup?
This year’s release brings together cabernet sauvignon from Coonawarra, riesling from Clare Valley, and two expressions of chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills, with each of these wines depicting a study in site, season, and structure.
Here’s a closer look.
2021 ANOVA Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
An exploration beyond tradition.

Crafted only in outstanding vintages, ANOVA is a bold reinterpretation of Petaluma’s house style. This wine isn’t bound to a single site; instead, it emerges when weather conditions across Coonawarra are perfectly aligned.
For 2021, that moment came across the Evans and Amara sites in Coonawarra. A cool, dry spring, followed by a more mild and even summer, that slowly ripened the fruit.
The result is a structured, brooding cabernet that sits firmly in the fine wine category, with flavours of blackberry, cassis, and cedar spice, delicately layered over silky tannins.
As winemaker Ben Thoman puts it, “ANOVA is born from precision and possibility, not prescription.”

2024 Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay
A canvas for chardonnay.

Direct from one of Petaluma’s highest and most cool vineyards in the Adelaide Hills comes this flagship Chardonnay. Piccadilly Valley is renowned for producing wines with both elegance and backbone, and this release is no exception.
Featuring notes of peach and citrus, fine acidity, subtle oak, and a mineral thread that anchors the wine’s structure, this wine gives us restraint, energy, and complexity — all in one glass.”
With 95 points from Ray Jordan, this chardonnay is already earning its place in the vintage’s top tier.

2024 Hanlin Hill Riesling
A purity that’s hard to match.

Riesling lovers, take note. The 2024 Hanlin Hill vintage is bright and textural, with floral aromatics, citrus tension, and a hallmark line of minerality.
Set high on the slopes of the Clare Valley, this vineyard is defined by rich soils and crisp, cool nights; the ideal conditions to produce vibrant, finessed riesling that will cellar well. As Thoman notes: “This vineyard consistently delivers freshness and line — it’s just so precise.”

2024 B.C.P. by Petaluma Chardonnay
Fresh, vibrant, and made to be shared.

Ready to enjoy immediately, B.C.P. is generous and plush, with the same attention to detail as its fellow, more structured counterparts.
Designed for relaxed everyday moments, this fruit-forward, creamy chardonnay has a broad appeal.
“B.C.P. lets us offer something accessible without sacrificing quality”, says Thoman.
Put simply, this wine is Petaluma without the formality.
