REVIEW
Ever wondered why friends who live in Bondi never leave? A few slices of pizza from Da Orazio might help you understand their predicament – fewer than three years after opening, it has locked itself in as one of Sydney’s top pizza joints, and probably the fanciest, too, the grey-and-white industrial fit-out attracting a who’s who of the Bondi scene. Those who like their pizze round should kick things off with a bufalina, blackened and chewy crust on the outside and bubbly cheese and tomato in the middle, while those who like their stomachs bursting will find love with the monstrous focaccia con porchetta, a marriage of fresh dough and hot pork with mayonnaise as celebrant. Service is snappy, but friendly (meaning they’ll happily apologise when they try to snatch away your half-finished Spritz). The simple dessert options, meanwhile, might be better swapped for another of the many Italian wines on offer, all available by the glass.
