Where is the best area to stay in Paris?
The best areas to stay in Paris depend on your preferences. The Marais (4th arrondissement) offers trendy boutiques, cafés, and a historic vibe. Saint-Germain-des-Prés (6th arrondissement) is perfect for classic Parisian charm, art, and upscale dining. The Latin Quarter (5th arrondissement) is lively, ideal for students and budget travelers. Champs-Élysées (8th arrondissement) offers luxury and proximity to famous landmarks. For a romantic stay, Montmartre (18th arrondissement) boasts stunning views and a bohemian atmosphere. Above, we’ve curated our list of the best Airbnbs in Paris with these neighbourhoods in mind and by selecting the top-rated and best-looking stays in each arrondissement.
Are hotels cheaper than Airbnb in Paris?
While you may find some hotels cost less per night than a high-end Airbnb, it’s more likely to be the other way around because Airbnbs are intended to be short-term stays – and could even be someone’s home for part or most of the year. Hotels, on the other hand, are designed purely for the purpose of accommodation, and have staff and other requirements that can add to their cost.
But to give you an idea, specifically for Paris, we looked at prices for both types of accommodation in the Montmartre area (18th arrondissement) for a 7-night stay in August 2025. We found 10 “entire property” listings on Airbnb, with prices ranging from $1616 (or around $231 per night on average) to $3020 (around $431 per night). We also found 10 hotels on Luxury Escapes with prices ranging from $1577 (around $225 per night) to $4605 (around $658 per night).
But even though one of these hotels was cheaper than the lowest-priced Airbnb, the average cost for a hotel was higher at $2558 for 7 nights, compared to an average cost of $2082 for an Airbnb. So this suggests you generally can find more affordability with Airbnb properties in Paris, but of course it depends on where you’re staying and what you want from your accommodation.
